In my role as Writing Center Co-director, I have contributed to the commitment of the Writing Center to promote an inclusive environment that supports all writers on campus through productive and respectful conversations. I am dedicated to serving students with diverse academic backgrounds and Englishes to become stronger, more confident writers.
Recruiting, hiring, and training writing consultants has given me the chance to work closely with writing tutors to ensure our services are constantly improving and adapting to students’ needs. I coordinate in-person sessions as well as online tutoring through synchronous and asynchronous modalities. I also aim to create a community where tutors can develop their teaching and mentoring skills.
This position of leadership also requires project management skills to coordinate schedules, and communications with students, faculty, and with departments across campus.
